Tabu Social Club

Tucked into a commercial strip in Catonsville just west of Baltimore, Tabu Social Club has operated since 2004 as the region's flagship on-premise lifestyle venue — Black-owned and women-owned, drawing couples and single ladies from across the Baltimore-DC corridor. The space splits cleanly into two distinct zones: upstairs, a nightclub-style lounge with a raised dance floor, plush sunken seating, two dance poles, an elevated dance cage, and a dedicated ladies-only dance stage, all driven by resident DJ Kutt on Saturdays and rotating DJs on Fridays. The tone reads more upscale martini bar than basement party — well-lit, clean, and deliberately social before it's anything else. Descend to the lower level and the energy shifts: Vicki's VIP Lounge houses 11 sexually themed private suites — a doctor room, a love-voodoo room with a waterfall, a floating-bed mirrored room, a BDSM room, an oriental room, a gang-bang room, and two glass-window voyeur rooms — plus one open group area. Suite assignments are managed by a lounge attendant, and time limits apply when demand is high. Showers, towels, lockers, and five refrigerated coolers for BYOB beverages round out the amenities. The weekly rhythm is Fridays 9 pm–2 am and Saturdays 9 pm–3 am, with themed nights cycling through the calendar — newbie nights, pride parties, blackout events, and passport parties. Membership is open to couples and single females only; single males require a six-month-active-member sponsor. The crowd skews mature and dressed-up, with regular and new faces finding the no-pressure ethos — staff walk first-timers through the layout and etiquette on arrival — the club's most consistently praised quality.
