Before You Go
Most lifestyle clubs are private membership organizations. You'll typically need to apply or register online before your first visit. Some accept walk-ins, but calling ahead is always a good idea.
What to bring: - Valid photo ID (required everywhere) - Cash for cover charges (some clubs are cash-only) - Your own alcohol if it's a BYOB venue - A lock for lockers (if the club provides them)
The Dress Code
Dress codes vary widely. On-premise clubs tend to enforce stricter dress codes โ think upscale nightclub attire. Event organizers and house parties may be more relaxed. When in doubt, overdress. Common rules include:
- No athletic wear, jeans, or sneakers at upscale venues
- Lingerie or fetish wear is usually welcome in play areas
- Some clubs have themed nights with specific dress requirements
What Happens Inside
Every club is different, but most follow a similar layout: a social area (bar, dance floor, lounge) and a separate play area. Nobody is required to participate in anything โ watching, socializing, and simply enjoying the atmosphere are all normal.
Consent is everything. Every reputable club enforces strict no-means-no policies. Asking before any physical contact is mandatory. If someone says no, the answer is no, and there is zero pressure to explain why.
Etiquette Basics
- Don't stare. Watching is fine in designated areas, but be respectful.
- Don't touch without asking. Ever.
- Don't use your phone. Most clubs ban phones in play areas. Many ban them entirely.
- Don't pressure anyone. Including your own partner.
- Do shower before and after. Most clubs provide shower facilities.
- Do communicate with your partner about boundaries before you arrive.
Pricing
Couples typically pay between $20-$100 for entry, depending on the venue and night. Single males pay more (often 2-3x couples pricing) at clubs that admit them. Single females usually get discounted or free entry.
Membership fees range from $20-$100 per year at most clubs. Some premium or resort venues charge significantly more.
Your First Night
Go with zero expectations. Treat it as a night out at an unusual club. Most first-timers spend the evening socializing, having drinks, and getting comfortable with the environment. There is absolutely no obligation to do anything beyond that.
The lifestyle community is generally welcoming to newcomers. If a club advertises itself as "newbie-friendly," staff will often give you a tour and answer questions when you arrive.
