The Foothills Club

The Foothills Club is a private, membership-only lifestyle club based in Anderson, South Carolina, near Exit 19A on I-85 (Clemson Boulevard). Founded in 1985 as informal house parties in Georgia, it moved through a string of hotel ballrooms in Spartanburg and Greenville before adding a second location in Clinton, SC in August 2011. That Clinton venue closed for good in May 2013 when its host hotel was sold for redevelopment, and the club's own history page still records it as "Clinton (RIP)." Since 2014 the club has operated exclusively out of Anderson, hosting a two-night party each month. Parties are held in a private hotel ballroom rather than a dedicated venue -- the club has changed host hotels several times over the decades and has occupied its current Anderson property since December 2021. Each ballroom is decorated to match a monthly theme, with a DJ, dance floor, lighted stripper pole and lounge area. The club frames itself as a nightclub-style meet-and-mingle rather than an on-site play space: sex and nudity are not permitted in the ballroom or any public area of the hotel, with couples expected to take things back to a private hotel room instead. Membership is open to couples and singles of any age, race, size or orientation, though single men are capped in number at each event. The typical two-night format pairs a Friday-night Meet and Greet karaoke party (around 8:30pm-1:30am) -- open to non-members on a BYOB basis with no cover charge -- with a members-only Saturday main event (from about 8pm) that includes a complimentary open bar (cut off around 11:45pm) plus the option to BYOB. Attending the main event requires a one-time lifetime membership purchased at the door; the club accepts cash only, with no credit cards, debit cards or checks. New members must be 21 or older, show a valid photo ID matching their registration form, and complete a short information sheet. Registration typically closes around 9:30pm. There is no strict dress code, though attendees are encouraged to dress to each month's theme.
