Pineapples Lifestyle Bar

Pineapples Lifestyle Bar occupies a two-storey building at 427 City Rd in South Melbourne's Montague Precinct, between York and Ferrars streets. Opened in August 2025 after the City of Port Phillip approved the venue 5–3 in June 2024 following a VCAT challenge by local residents, it holds a sex-on-premises permit and accommodates up to 200 patrons. It operates as a licensed adult lifestyle bar welcoming couples, solo women, and a restricted cohort of vetted solo men, positioning itself as a consent-focused environment for adult social exploration within the swinger, queer, LGBTQ+, and kink communities. The ground floor contains a licensed full-service bar and a performance stage used for live music, DJ sets, comedy, cabaret, and burlesque, with the format rotating by night. The upper floor is reserved for intimate activity and houses open play areas, private lockable rooms, bathrooms, unisex showers, and a VIP section. Refresh stations supply towels, condoms, lubricant, massage oil, and sanitary items throughout. Guests receive colour-coded wristbands indicating couple, solo-female, solo-male, or prefer-not-to-be-approached status; a black wristband signals a wish to decline physical advances. Volunteer consent angels circulate the floor to support guests. Complimentary all-night parking is available in front of the venue from 6 pm, and lockers are provided on an AUD$20 security deposit or credit-card/ID-hold basis. The club operates three nights per week: Thursdays 7 pm–midnight, Fridays 8 pm–2 am, and Saturdays 8 pm–2 am. Tickets must be purchased online in advance — walk-ins are never admitted. All first-time visitors must submit a membership application and complete a phone vetting call before any ticket purchase; solo males face an additional written questionnaire and in-person interview, and operate under a one-strike permanent-removal policy. Standard nights begin at AUD$20. Valid government-issued photo ID is required at the door. Phones and cameras must be secured in on-site lockers before entering the upper floor. The arrival dress code is smart-casual; upper-floor access requires dressing to lingerie, underwear, a provided towel, or bare skin. No outside alcohol is permitted, and a zero-tolerance drugs policy applies.
