Set in a standalone two-story building on Atlantic Avenue — away from the casino corridor but squarely in the thick of Atlantic City's off-Strip scene — RolePlay Lounge billed itself as New Jersey's number-one erotic couples playground and, for much of the 2010s, was one of only two venues in the city openly offering on-premise lifestyle experiences. The building spanned over 5,000 square feet across two distinct floors. Downstairs was the nightclub: dance music, rotating spotlights, pole dancing, and a full social scene oriented around drinking and mingling. The upper floor was the play space — a collection of modern playrooms and open stages, stocked with a constant supply of dry-cleaned linen and towels, where the tone shifted from nightclub to something considerably more uninhibited. The crowd, per the club's own manager, ran roughly 22 to 52 years old — a mix that read, on a Saturday night, like any upscale small club except for the video screens and the open-door rooms on the second floor. The venue positioned itself deliberately against the 'grimy swingers club' image, marketing an upscale experience and describing itself as zero-pressure. Couples dominated the guest list; single women were admitted free, and a limited number of single men were permitted on Fridays only. Membership was required for entry, and the fee was $100 per couple, covering that membership along with entry for the night. RolePlay operated Fridays (10 pm–3 am) and Saturdays (9 pm–4 am), with parking between Boston and Providence Avenues. It was BYOB — the bar brought no alcohol license — and guests were expected to bring their own bottle. The club accepted Discover, Mastercard, and Visa at the door.
