The Ritual Chamber

The Ritual Chamber permanently closed its doors as a public BDSM dungeon on December 31, 2024, after a decade of operation in Toronto's High Park neighbourhood. Founder and operator HM Shahrazad announced the closure in early 2024, citing a move toward establishing a private psychotherapy practice. The space operated at two Toronto addresses over its ten-year run — first a loft storefront in the West Junction area, then the main floor of a century-old house in High Park — and was described by its founder as the much-loved BDSM dungeon and fetish studio curated and managed by HM Shahrazad. At its peak The Ritual Chamber functioned as both a professional dungeon and a lifestyle community hub. It maintained a roster of up to 28 house staff — Dominants, submissives, and switches — personally mentored by HM Shahrazad, and offered private play sessions, double-occupancy dungeon rentals, and a calendar of public events. Over its lifespan the venue logged more than 1,000 session hours per year and hosted over 150 distinct events, including 162 kink education seminars, 19 munches drawing nearly 1,000 attendees, a Spankathon fundraiser that raised over CA$3,000 for the Woodhull Freedom Foundation, and collaborations with organisations such as Northbound Leather. Following closure of the dungeon space, HM Shahrazad continues to offer kink coaching and consulting, limited professional play sessions specialising in traditional corporal punishment and impact play, BDSM workshops (live and online), and pro-dominant mentorship.
