Tucked behind an unmarked door on Bay Street in San Francisco's storied North Beach neighborhood, Twist occupies a purpose-built lifestyle space that sets itself apart from the residence-party circuit. Guests enter through a sultry red-lit staircase into a coat check and sign-in area, then move through a compact BYOB bar — stocked with mixers, soft drinks, and light snacks — and into two front lounge areas furnished with couches, bar-top tables, and a small playroom anchored by a circular bed. Steps up from the bar sits the dedicated dance floor, ringed by low seating and outfitted with multiple dance poles and a VIP booth, giving the room an intimate nightclub feel in moody red and purple neon. Past a beaded curtain and a locker room with roughly 90 lockers (two towels per locker), a staff member marks the transition into the play areas, where full clothing is not permitted. Two open mat-covered rooms branch off left and right — one with a long couch and a tucked-away private alcove, the other a longer serpentine layout — plus a third private VIP room with a closable door. Additional bathrooms and a remodeled shower serve the back of the venue. Friday and Saturday nights run 10 PM to 4 AM; a Wednesday couples-only erotic yoga session (7:30–9:30 PM) offers a no-pressure introduction to the space. Saturdays are strictly couples and single ladies — no advance notice needed for either. Fridays follow the same rule for walk-ins, but Twist invites a limited number of single men by email application only. Single men are also welcome during Her Fantasy Party (HFP), held one to two Sundays per month (10 PM–3 AM), where couples set the tone and men attend by invitation-style selection. The crowd spans a wide age range and is notably diverse, and reviewers consistently single out the venue's culture of explicit verbal consent as one of its most distinguishing qualities.
