Society of Bastet

The Society of Bastet is a volunteer-run, non-profit alternative lifestyles organization based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, serving the kink and BDSM community across Atlantic Canada. Operating out of Suite 5 at 327 Windmill Road — tucked behind blacked-out windows — the society operates a community play space with weekly programming for practitioners of impact play, rope bondage, fire play, latex, electrical play, foot fetishism, domination and submission, and more. The clubhouse features a dungeon equipped with a St. Andrew's cross, a spanking bench, an impact toys wall, and a wax play area. A separate medical room — complete with an examination table, lab coats, gloves, and a biohazard sharps container — supports fire play, massage, and play piercing. A Dungeon Monitor is on duty during every session with a first-aid kit, and a Sheriff role handles escalated concerns. Hospital-grade disinfectant and single-use items are standard; members are required to clean all equipment after use. The society explicitly describes itself as a BDSM and kink club, not a sex club: penetration is not permitted, and all physical contact must be through a clothing barrier. Alcohol and drugs are strictly prohibited on the premises. Weekly Saturday night play parties form the backbone of the schedule, with an orientation session on the first Saturday of each month for newcomers. Annual membership is CA$30 per person (or CA$50 for two years); membership is optional and guests are welcome at all events when signed in by a member. All attendees must be 19 or older. The Society also runs the School of Kink, an ongoing program of classes, peer tutoring, and demonstrations covering safe technique across a wide range of kinks.
