The Pendulum Club (Hempstead Location)

Sitting inside a strip center on Hempstead Road in northwest Houston, The Pendulum Club's original location transports visitors into what the owners describe as a replica of a mid-19th-century luxurious brothel — warm, plush, and immediately enveloping. The club is women-owned and operated, founded in 2015 by Josie and Shannon, and has grown into the anchor of a three-venue Houston-area chain. Despite a deliberately compact footprint, the space packs in 10 play areas, a figure the owners note exceeds most venues twice its size, and has earned a reputation as the busiest lifestyle club in Houston. The play layout moves from a main dance floor and self-serve BYOB bar area — the club provides ice, cups, juices, and sodas at no charge — into a select lounge with a separate dance stage, then deeper into private rooms, veiled beds, a group bed area ringed by couches, and a couples-only front section with two private rooms and two semi-private veiled beds. On arrival, guests receive a color-coded wristband that signals their interests, the club's own system for easing the social dynamic. Tours are offered to first-timers who arrive before 10:30 p.m., and the crowd on most nights is reportedly more than a third newcomers. The club opens Wednesday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. (doors close at 1 a.m.) and Friday through Saturday from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. (doors close at 2 a.m.). Single men are welcome Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights at this location only; on Fridays, single men are restricted to the back area unless invited by a couple. It is strictly 21-and-over, entirely non-smoking and non-vapor, and BYOB — no alcohol is sold or served on premises.
