Friction Carolina

Friction Carolina is the Raleigh-Durham chapter of Friction Parties, a hotel-takeover swingers event brand founded by Lisa Friction more than two decades ago and run as a women-owned and -operated business. Rather than operating a single fixed venue, Friction stages full hotel buyouts at upscale, mainstream hotel properties across North Carolina, alongside sister markets in the Philadelphia/New Jersey area, the Washington DC region, and Ohio. The company describes its events as complete hotel takeovers rather than floor or ballroom rentals, and positions itself as a nationally recognized hotel-party brand in the lifestyle scene. Because host properties are conventional hotels with their own liquor licenses, the ballroom runs on a cash bar and outside alcohol is barred from any area where the hotel sells drinks, unless a specific date is advertised as BYOB. Parties are built around a rented ballroom for the main event and a private party floor of guest rooms, with area DJs, a stripper pole and dance cage, a step-and-repeat photo backdrop, and security posted at check-in and on the private floors overnight. A late-night pizza run and after-parties on the guest-room floor extend the evening once the ballroom event winds down. Guests are asked to wear a robe or cover-up in hallways and other public hotel areas, and fog machines, candles, vaping, and smoking are all prohibited indoors under hotel fire code. Admission is screening-based and limited to couples and single women who meet the group's appearance standards; the site's own registration form offers only "Couple" and "Female" account types, and unaccompanied single men are not admitted under any circumstance. Site membership is free, and an event ticket purchase includes a temporary premium membership, with a paid "Platinum" membership sold separately for year-round profile browsing and messaging. Check-in cutoff varies by event — stated as 11pm on one official page and midnight on another — with no late entry, and purchases are non-refundable; cancellations and no-shows receive a 12-month event credit instead.
